Starts

I have quite a few starts in the green house. Peas, beans, tomatoes, soy beans. onions etc.

Signs, signs everywhere a sign

We got this sign last year at the farmers market. I haven't used any sprays for years. All certified organic practices. This is in our first bed by the street. Hopeing no one will steal it.

A new bed

This is our 4th raised bed. We bought cherry wood this time around. We will have 3 more beds made soon. I am thinking of putting lettuce and spinach is this onel

Inspector is here

As I have just about filled the 3 beds the inspector is coming around to make sure I have done it right

Spring is here!

We must have about 100 daffodils planted on the side of our house and a few the squirrels have placed in the beds over winter

One down, two to go!

I got the first box filled. I am still excited. Not as much energy now. I know that I have to keep going because I want it all done tonight. I think it is going to rain a little tonight. Need to get them wet so I can start planting. We have 3 rain barrels, 2 are filled, but would rather use the rain tonight.

What was I thinking

Starting off shoveling the blend into the first box.
Still kind of excited about all the dirt going into the boxes. Plenty of energy!

Reading as I work

A company is paying for us to get the Oregonian the local paper. I haven't read much because I was just saving it for the boxes. I wanted to keep the weeds from growing. But as I was laying it out I did find some of the articles interesting.

THE FUN BEGINS!

Ordered 5 yards of soil blend, it was dumped in the driveway. I had to park the truck on the side road. Went into the house and changed into gardening clothes.

Raised bed production!

This is our first bed of three. Have you read the book the $64 dollar tomato! We have already passed that price. We wanted the front yard to look nice, so we spent a few extra bucks on nice cedar wood.

Precision alingment

We are very proud of our first raised bed.

Turning the front yard into a garden

Well it is almost time to plant the garden here in the NW and we have decided to turn the front yard into a garden. All the grass has been removed and a layer of compost put down.
